Christian Creation Story
The incomparable creation story in Genesis gives evidence that man did not evolve from apes as theorized by mid-19th century evolutionist Charles Darwin, but man was created after the image and likeness of God. While some public and private secular schools persist in perpetuating the notion that humans descended from apes and developed through a process of time into Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals; the Christian creation story clearly debunks this belief. Reading the Book of Genesis not only brings clarification regarding mankind's beginning, but also reveals God's purpose and intent for fashioning humans. As Supreme Creator of the Universe, God does not have to recycle apes to make another more developed entity called man. According to the Christian creation story, in six days the Lord formed the heavens, the earth, and all plant and animal life. The Father then created the first man Adam and placed the man in the midst of the Garden of Eden. God's intent was to reproduce after His likeness a male and female with whom there could be perpetual fellowship, as they emanated God's nature and character. Adam and Eve were charged with the divine mandate to: "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion..." In essence, God commissioned man to be a representative on the earth with the same authority the Lord had in Heaven.
The Book of Genesis is actually a book of beginnings and a riveting account of the Christian creation story, as God spoke to Moses. Before the beginning of time, God existed and will continue to exist long after man, with all of his carnal reasoning and technological advances, has disappeared off the face of the earth. God is omniscient, therefore knows all things. God is omnipresent, able to be in all places at the same time. And God is omnipotent, possessing all power in the Universe. There is no being greater than God; no other deity capable of bringing forth the sun and sky, the moon and the seas, or capable of speaking forth light and filling the earth with the life changing power of the Holy Spirit. Anyone who has taken the time to study the Holy Word of God surely will leave with the impression that there can only be a sole supreme being capable of engineering the creation of mankind. The creation story in Genesis is so amazingly awesome that in spite of man's attempts to discredit and discount the Word of God, the saga of man's life on earth continues to astound us.
The Genesis account of creation stands as a testament to the omnipotent power of God to not only breathe into Adam the breath of life, thereby creating the first living soul; but to enable that same man to reproduce seed after his own kind. From the first male and female, the entire earth was populated with humans fashioned, not as apes, but as upright souls, walking in all the power and the authority of Almighty God. The creation story in Genesis is actually a revelation of the plan, purpose and intent of God. The Father delights and takes pleasure in man, a reflection of His character. In creating the first man, God actually reproduced Himself; just as the seed of a natural father penetrates the egg to create a son. And in forming the first Adam, God established man's dominion over the earth. "And God said, Let us make man in or image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them" (Genesis 1:26-27). Although mankind lost the authority to govern the earth through Adam's transgression; that innate power to decree, dictate and dominate yet resounds in the heart of the regenerated soul. When sinful man returns to the Creator by receiving salvation through the second Adam, which is Christ Jesus our Lord, he is once again restored to godly fellowship and given the divine authority to replenish the earth and subdue it for the Kingdom of God.
The amazing Christian creation story can inspire men and women and boys and girls everywhere to seek, search for, and to find the Creator. Genesis is a story which compels the lost to return to fellowship and to experience the sweet communion Adam and Eve had in the Garden before sin's deception captivated their hearts and minds. The book of beginnings demonstrates the overwhelming compassion between Creator and creature which emanates and resounds in the Biblical account of his birth. Therefore those who have truly become born again in Christ Jesus and those who have touched the pulse of God through the indwelling of the Spirit can no longer accept a theory of evolution. Doubters and scoffers of the creation story in Genesis have only to take a look in the mirror to see the face of God. They have only to gaze at the palms of their hands to see the imprint of the Spirit; and they have only to take a look at the amazing planet all around them to know that surely, this awesome creation is not one that occurred by accident or by a Big Bang. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). Once the Christian creation story is accepted by faith, the heart of a regenerated man will surely bear witness that fashioning heaven and earth, light and darkness, day and night, fish and fowl, cattle and creeping thing, and male and female could have only been the work of a true and living God.
