God is Love
Because God is love, Christian relationships become a very important part of developing connections with God and others. Part of loving others means seeing them become a part of God's family. Witnessing to others about the mercy of our Lord should be something that a believer should do everyday. As a Christian, people consider speaking about this topic as the job of a preacher or teacher who devotes himself to reaching out to others. While these people are a very important part of leading others to Christ, everyone who follows and serves God has the responsibility to share his message with others. Missionaries also play a vital role in furthering the kingdom of God. As they travel to different countries, they take on the responsibility of not only telling, but showing, God's character. As an individual comes to know, love, and accept Christ as his personal Savior, he in turn reaches out to everyone around him. Just as Christ loved people so much that He gave His life on the cross, we too must love people so much that we will sacrifice for them. That's how we spread the love of God.
Our task is to share His word with hopes that we will bring others to know Him before it is too late. Teaching others about God's boundless nature can be done in a variety of ways. We can serve others with everyday tasks such as helping a neighbor paint his house or babysitting for a single mother. As we serve our unbelieving friends, we open up the conversation to the fact that God is love. Jesus told his disciples, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). This doesn't just apply to the missionary who goes into a foreign country to spread the Good News. We find our mission field at our workplace, in our neighborhood, perhaps even at home. We must show and share that God is love with our dearest loved ones and acquaintances as well. We are responsible to spread Christ's message as He did. One way we can expand our circle of influence with God's love is to volunteer for short-term mission trips with our church or other group. Many short-term missionary trips begin as a chance to travel to a different country to teach the Bible while helping with different tasks. Being an everyday Christian can be the best way to witness to others. In war-torn countries, missionaries often travel to help build homes, churches, and other buildings that have been damaged or destroyed from war. Believers can even visit places that are hostile to missionaries by volunteering for construction jobs or medical assistance or many other temporary positions. Teaching English in China can open up opportunities to share one's faith. Other countries that may be suffering from famines or natural disasters provide opportunities for people to rebuild lives through showing God's love.
As Christians, we sometimes find it hard to uphold the actions and behaviors that characterized Christ's life. Working with people who are not Christians can be extremely hard, especially if the number of non-Christians is much higher than the number of Christians who work together. Many non-Christians do not behave as they should, either because they do not know better, do not care, or do not know the ways that God would have them act and behave. Showing Christian friendship and proclaiming God's love, on a daily basis, at work to other individuals can be one of the best ways to witness. Being a constant example of a person who has strong faith will offer a great witness to those around. Our responsibility to witness began the moment our salvation was completed. Witnessing with fire and zeal for our Lord becomes our primary task. Everyone on earth who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior must take part in bringing others to Him because God's Word tells us, "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love" (1 John 4:8). So our attitude and service is the proof that we know Him and that we serve Him.
