Parents may seem to have the hardest times in today's society. Parenting has been made more complicated in the last few decades with all the looseness of sex and the availability of drugs. The Christian has one of the hardest times with raising a child in the awareness of the Lord. When attempting to parent a child to know the difference between right and wrong based on the Bible, society with all it's liberalness becomes the enemy. If teaching a child that something is wrong that the world doesn't agree with, the problems begin. The question is how the Christian parent is supposed to raise a child in a highly secularized society that looks to culture for all of the answers rather than living morally as the Bible teaches. When trying to choose schools that will educate a child without filling the little minds with garbage, a Christian parent have many problems finding one that is appropriate. The job becomes harder when being fought by a school system. Many will opt for home schooling, but there are some drawbacks in this too. Many children who are home schooled will be smarter than the average student because of being able to work at an individual pace, but this may also isolate children from the needed socialization. The question becomes how to give the students everything needed educationally without denying them friendships and the ability to work as a team.
In bigger cities, home schooling programs are established without much of a problem. There they are not alone in their quest to educate their child. Beliefs in parenting are able to be put onto action without denying the child the much needed social setting. This is because in bigger cities, there are home schooling groups. These groups will have everything that a child needs from playing sports to debate clubs. Many groups will play against each other and be put into a league. As long as a child is involved in activities through home school groups, you need not worry as much about the problem with socializing the child who is in a home school setting. The best of both worlds can be gotten here. The education can be obtained without losing the friends.
If home schooling is not the ideal for the child, then look into charter or Christian schools. The Christian parents must look into finding what is best for a child intellectually as well as socially if choosing to take this route. The entire job is made easier in these schools because there are good teachers helping to teach morality. The only thing that is most important in these schools is making sure that the child is involved in a good crowd of friends. Many children are sent to Christian schools in the hope of reform and/or exposing children to a group of friends that may have the same values and beliefs. No matter how hard parents have it, as long as the Bible is being taught to their children, they cant go wrong. Never settle for less than what the Lord has for a child. Also, never force a child to be someone that they aren't. Many times children of the Christian parent will go crazy once they get to college. This is because they had parents that did not teach them to think on their own. It is so important to teach children to have their own minds and to think.
Even if a child turns away from the earlier teachings, realize that if, a child has been raised in the faith, they will return to it eventually. Parenting has never been considered an easy task, but it is not the worst thing out there. Make sure that you are honoring the Lord by teaching children about him. But the most important thing is to show them they are loved. Let them know the Lord because He loves them. Love as the Lord has shown how to love and children will see Christ in you. "Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy loving kindness" (Psalm 119:159)
