Reconciliation Before Divorce

Reconciliation before Divorce happens during a time when one's emotions are ripe with thoughts and actions regretted. Thinking about getting a divorce can happen to couples who still love each other but have forgotten how much. So many different things can happen in a marriage where one person is affected so deeply that he or she does not know how to deal with it. A traumatic event can put a person into a state of confusion. Never make a big decision such as divorce when there has been a major occurrence in your life. Your judgment will be compromised because of the troubled events going on. Take some time and ask God for healing before making major life decisions. Reconciliation before divorce is the best thing to do when there are doubts and confusion. Don't go before the judge when there is a chance that the marriage can be healed, go to God instead! "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Counseling is an act that someone can do that will help put confused thoughts into focus. Sometimes people react to something that was the "straw that broke the camel's back". In other words, many things might have happened and there was never any release from the stress of those things. Holding things in and not talking about them can lead a person to a state of turmoil. The bad thing in this type of situation is that we often take stress out on those we love the most. A spouse who gets the brunt of this stress may not understand what he or she has done. A reaction might be anger towards a spouse because he did not take out the garbage or wash the car. The fight led to a breakup and talk of divorce. Counseling can help one to recall when the anger first started or when the confusion first started. After that happens, a person can work through to the truth that caused the break up and seek reconciliation before divorce.

Now in some situations the bad feelings towards one's partner could be caused by one action by him or her. One of the worse things that can happen to two people is when one or both have been unfaithful. Many people who have gone through this have contemplated divorce because the pain is so great. There is a chance that reconciliation before divorce is possible when the couple turn to God in their pain. First, both adults need to be willing to start over. Forgiveness is possible but forgetting is the difficult part. Counseling can be a wonderful way to work through the feelings and hurt. Communication must be honest and both adults need to be dedicated to making the marriage work.

The loss of a family member can lead to a change in personality. People grieve differently and sometimes the loss is so traumatic that he or she may lose their zest for living. This is especially difficult if the loss is a child. Couples can get through this time without relationship problems if they communicate with one another. However, sometimes a breakup can happen because a bond between them is no longer there. Reconciliation before divorce is possible when partners realize that they are not the only ones who have lost a child. Websites on the Internet offer ways to chat with other grieving parents. Group counseling for parents is another way to find people who know what you're going through and understand all of the emotions and mixed feelings involved.

With God all things are possible so when thinking that reconciliation before divorce is impossible remember God's word and hold on to His promises. The first step to healing is to become reconciled to God. He holds the answer to all of life's problems and dilemmas. There is not anything that He cannot do. When we rededicate our lives to God this act opens the door for Him to come in and heal your heart. When we are going through a divorce we often do not realize that the problem lies within us. Blaming one's spouse is a common occurrence and he or she may have caused some of the hurt but to put all blame on one partner is not realistic. If our heart is right with God then reconciliation becomes the most important thing. Concentrating on the hurt and the wrongs will not help but will only make the pain more difficult to bear. Give your burdens and cares to the Lord and let Him do the work.

Couples find that a separation can help to provide answers and reconciliation before divorce. The old saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" can be so true. Couples should give each other plenty of time to heal before filing for a permanent separation. Time can heal old wounds when a new perspective is given. Walking away for a while allows a person to experience life without their partner. When a couple has been married for a long time and they are apart, each one will have difficulty adjusting to the change. This could lead to a reality check. If love is still there then there is a chance that reconciliation before divorce is possible. Give love time and see what happens.
