Many may wonder what it means to be saved, and why people need to be saved. Salvation is the act of a person being delivered or released from sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus was sent, as the Son of God, to live and walk the Earth to teach others about the love and power of God. He became the sacrifice that allows anyone who accepts him to be born again and renewed by His blood: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). Using the plan of salvation is a great way to begin a walk with God. God's plan explains exactly how to seek and ask forgiveness of sins. There are no questions or mysteries involved with being saved. If someone admits their sins, believes in Jesus as their Savior, and confesses His name as a witness to others, they will be saved from sins and the fires of Hell.

The basic idea behind these verses is to explain to someone the need to be saved in order to live eternally in Heaven instead of Hell. Death is inevitable when sin is not forgiven. These verses also convey the idea that everyone can be saved if they only believe because Jesus was sent to die for everyone. It is also necessary for the person seeking eternal life in Heaven to know that Heaven can not be reached by doing good works on earth. "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:17). This passage in the Bible, written by Paul, conveys the need for being saved, especially in dealing with the evils of the world. As Satan attacks with this spiritual warfare, an individual must use a helmet of salvation as a form of protection and security against the tricks and lies of Satan. By putting on the helmet or taking a stand, an person is much stronger than any demonic forces or powers that might try to interfere. Also in this verse there is mention of the "sword of the Spirit" which is to be "the word of God." It is amazing, as a Christian, to see the power, authority, and strength than can be gained by having faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD" (Isaiah 54:17).
